Shan State is in the eastern part of Myanmar. Taunggyi is the capital of southern Shan State. It is 4,712 ft above the sea level. It is famous for its hill resorts and it has cold and pleasant weather all the year round. Every visitor can travel to Taunggyi by air, by train as well as by motor car. In January 2008 I traveled to Myanmar. While in Bagan I took a hot air balloon trip over the temples, stupas and pagodas of Bagan. Many of these structures are hundreds of years old and in the early morning light are spectacular. This balloon ride was the highlight of the trip.
